Project Coach has transitioned to a remote program during the COVID-19 outbreak. Our primary goal in Project Coach by Remote is to keep being a team and a community of practice by engaging with each other in as “real” a manner as possible even if we cannot be physically together, to support and inspire youth to continue their leadership and coaching education, and to promote continuity even in deeply challenging times. We feel a responsibility to use this unprecedented moment to mentor and support Springfield youth in their journey as scholars and emerging leaders. These weekly activities take the place of all regular Project Coach activities for the duration of the Spring 2020 season.
Components of Project Coach by Remote:
Tuesday Virtual Academic Coaching Academy: Weekly virtual space for mentoring and co-learning for the PC Team of Smith and Springfield students and educators to learn high-impact leadership skills that lead to success in school and life.
Thursday All-Team Meeting: Weekly panel discussions on Zoom for the full PC team, including teens and their families with community leaders on a variety of topics including community response to the COVID-19 epidemic, leadership in challenging times, and what teens can do to contribute, lead, and learn.
Coaching Certifications: Weekly 1- to 1.5-hour weekly certification that coaches complete independently online to build their skills as coaches and leaders of children and to add to their resumes.
Weekly E-newsletter for Coaches & Parents: A teen-centric compilation of resources for teens and their families that provide fact-based information about COVID-19 and offer ideas for staying physically active and mentally engaged during this public health crisis.
